Funza Lushaka Bursaries 2024The bursary will be given to 66 students studying for professional teaching credentials at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), Stellenbosch University (SU), and the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in the Western Cape.

Students with specializations in the following fields are the only ones who will be considered for the bursary program: Funza Lushaka Bursaries 2024
Languages (including English, Afrikaans, and Xhosa) and special needs education are specialties of the BEd Foundation Phase.
BEd Intermediate Phase with a focus on Mathematics, Natural Science, Technology, Languages (primarily English), and Special Needs Education Funza Lushaka Bursaries 2024
English, mathematics, science, technology, the arts (drama, dance, music, design, and visual arts), and special needs education are areas of emphasis for BEd seniors.
Specialization in the BEd Further Education and Training Phase includes Xhosa, Technical Mathematics, and Agricultural, Natural, and Physical Sciences.
The ultimate objective of this district-based bursary program is to support 66 students’ academic endeavors in order to produce a new generation of teachers. The following costs will be covered by this full-cost bursary program: tuition fees, housing, food, a textbook allowance, study materials, and lab fees (where applicable), as well as a monthly allowance to cover living expenses. The bursary award can be renewed at the end of October of the year prior and is good for one academic year at a time. Renewals will be given depending on the student’s academic achievement, and they can/will be renewed each year until the recipient is an educator with the necessary credentials.
Candidates who are awarded the bursary must agree to work at public schools in rural areas for the same amount of time.

Before applying, candidates must meet the minimal admission requirements listed below (please note that if you do not meet all of the requirements, your application will not be considered):
You must be a resident of South Africa.
You must be a Western Cape resident.
You cannot be more than 30 years old.
You must be enrolled in high school or have graduated with a bachelor’s degree.
You must have received a grade in Matric’s Home Language subject of at least 60%.
You must have received a grade in Matric First Additional Language that is at least 50%.
You must have received a minimum grade of 50% in each of your other four matriculating subjects. Funza Lushaka Bursaries 2024
If you are a math major, you must have earned a passing grade in matricula.
when requesting a BEd Foundation Phase
If applying for a BEd with a technical topic specialization, you must have passed Physical Sciences, Technical Sciences, and Mathematics or Technical Mathematics in Matriculation.

You must fulfill the prerequisites for admission to the university of your choice.
You must have submitted an application for one of the aforementioned, recognized BEd degree programs, with specialization in two or more priority areas.
To study at one of these Western Cape institutions, you must have submitted an application for admission. Cape Peninsula University of Technology, University of the Western Cape, or Stellenbosch University

Step 2: Collect copies of the following supporting documentation (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate (NSC)/ Grade 12 June Report (certified copy)
- Proof of application/ acceptance into a Western Cape HEI
- Motivational letter explaining why you want to become a teacher
