During the various training courses, students experience the multi-million dollar mission complete ship handling simulator. This technology will be installed on the satellite campus of the School of Maritime Excellence in Durban. It is used to train naval pilots and tugboat captains to update them with the International Standards Training, Certification and Surveillance (STCW) requirements and to hone their skills through refresher courses.
